Gratitude

For the sake of anonymity I won't use real names for any of my friends or family in any of my blog posts.
A good friend of mine has recently taught me a thing or two about myself.
Dante (as he will be referred to as) is ten times wiser than any eighteen year old should be allowed to be. He is big into meditation, healthy living and a positive mindset. He has gone through a lot in his life, I'm not going to discuss it here, but comparing his life to mine I feel ashamed to have ever taken anything for granted. And yet he is living in a first world country with a roof over his head and an education. It makes me think of how lucky I am compared to people in third world countries.
As I said in my first post, I think of myself as a reasonably positive person but Dante has made me look at things in a new light. I feel a bit bad sometimes.. like he is being my psychologist but man he is easy to talk to. He does this thing where he thinks of 3 things to be grateful for in life. It started with him doing it before bed now he does it at all times of the day.
This is a philosophy of his I want to adopt. I have started doing it when I think of it but I figured if I put it on here I will be more likely to remember. The next thing he is teaching me is meditation!
3 things I should be grateful for today
~My family, we are all sitting in the lounge room doing our own thing but knowing they are there, healthy and happy, makes everything better
~My health, I have recently had a cold but it is improving a bit more each day
~The fire, it is awfully cold outside so I'm very glad our house is warm

Always be grateful for what you have
